LABOR DAY WEEKEND - AUGUST 29 - 31, 2025

Weirdos in the Woods is a three-day celebration of art, performance, and community spanning from Mohonk to Woodstock. At its heart is a living map, hand-drawn by local art hero Ernest Goodmaw, that guides visitors through studios, venues, and wild encounters with art across the Hudson Valley.

This festival highlights artists who balance their creative practice with day jobs in tech, trades, and labor, while asking a bigger question: how can artists generate real, sustainable incomes in their communities? In a time when government and institutional funding fail to support artists, Weirdos in the Woods pushes for new, self-built models of mutual aid, community care, and the value of creative thinking as a way of life.

EVENTS

Across six studio locations and three host venues, visitors will experience exhibitions, sound, dance, performance art, lectures, installations, talkbacks, and more—presenting the work of thirty artists from the Hudson Valley and beyond.

  • Friday, August 29 · 7–10 PM at The Tavern — a multi-artist bill of music and performance.

  • Saturday, August 30 · 4–10 PM at Three Phase Center — large-scale installations, exhibitions, video presentations, technical demonstrations, and performances.

  • Sunday, August 31 · 4–10 PM at Rosekill Art Farm — a closing celebration with performance art, communal feast, fire, lake swimming, and camping.

TICKETS
Each evening event is $20 at the door—but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. This is about community first, and we want everyone to be a part of it.

FUNDRAISING & COMMUNITY SUPPORT

We’ve been building this festival together all year long through wild fundraising events like an arm wrestling tournament, a mud wrestling showdown, and many live performances. To keep it rolling, we’ve also launched a line of hand screen-printed, one-of-a-kind thrifted t-shirts for $20 each. These shirts have been such a hit we’re already on our third batch.

We’re deeply grateful to our local businesses who have joined us by donating gifts, services, and money to make this dream real. Big thank you to Back Home Cannabis Dispensary, Lydia's Cafe, Hash, Sage Hair Design, Eris Farms, A Pickle Story, The Cryptids, and Dream Flag Dumplings.

Weirdos in the Woods is an artist-driven festival, a roaming experiment in community, creativity, and resilience. Together we’re building what institutions can’t: a living model for supporting artists as whole people, sustaining their work, and showing why it matters.
